  • Consider testing the CAT first in a face-to-face classroom
  • Vary the CATs that you use -- don't overuse a single CAT
  • Start with incorporating the CATs you are most comfortable with in your online courses
  • Let the technology work for you:

    • Discussion Boards
    • Chats
    • E-mail
  • Face-to-face students are a captive CAT audience. To help motivate online students to participate in a CAT, consider assigning points for completing a CAT. (Note: this is not the same as actually grading the CAT -- just recognition that the student completed the assessment.)
  • Feedback is important for both you and your students.
  • Use the feedback to continually improve your courses.
