Experience in Industry
My experience in information technology spans over 25 years with a variety of platforms and software development languages. I began working with the Web in 1996.
With over 20 years of teaching experience at Harper College, I began as adjunct, became a full-time faculty member in 1998, and was named to Professor Emerita status in 2014. My innovative use of instructional technology and teaching methodology has been recognized. I was awarded the Glenn A. Reich Memorial Award for Instructional Technology for innovative course design and teaching methods. I received the 2006 Blackboard Greenhouse Exemplary Online Course Award for innovative use of Internet technology in the academic environment within my E-Commerce Development course. The Instructional Technology Council (ITC) presented me with their 2008 Outstanding e-Learning Faculty Award for Excellence.
My popular web development textbook, Web Development & Design Foundations with HTML5 is in its 7th edition. Acclaimed features of this successful textbook, such as Hands-On Practice activities and a case study, have been integrated into my new Basics of Web Design: HTML5 & CSS3 textbook, which is in its 2nd edition.
Although my photographs have appeared in my web development textbooks for years, I began to explore the world of fine-art photography in 2013 — taking lots of photos and also attending a photography workshop offered by the Sedona Arts Center.
The recently published Capture Door County: The Best of Door County in Photography book included three of my photographs.
Prints of my photographs are available at Fine Art America.
My academic credentials include a Doctor of Education degree, a Master of Science in Information Systems degree, and a Master Online Teacher Certificate. I have also earned a number of industry certifications.
